The Word "No”

So, as most would expect, Anastasia has reached that wonderful stage in her life where the word “no” has become what I call filler-speech–like “uh” or “um”. but what’s so funny is that she says it in such a way that no matter how illogical or frustrating she is being, cuteness prevails and I can do is love her for it.

Maybe a year from now I will retract this entry but for now it’s still cute.

It Was a Slow Weekend

Saturday, we went to an event here in Indian Rocks Beach called “Octoberfest” which was, at best, a reason to have beer and polka music in public park in the middle of the day.

Besides the lack of variety of beer, and by that I mean one brand of beer available (although Sam Adams is a fine choice), the rotary club just so happen to have a monopoly on the bratwurst. May I add that it was the “worst” bratwurst (pardon my pun, it was irresistible) to have a monopoly on ? Anyway, there was so little community involvement and so much “fundraising” I felt like this was just another example of how disconnected we feel from this community.

Besides that, we found ourselves driving around central Pinellas Sunday afternoon looking for anything remotely interesting to do with the kids and alas, we ended up at a pizza joint. The disconnect continues.

Almost a Month

In just a few days, it will have been a month since Sebastian’s grand entry into this world. Yet, it seems like just a couple weeks have gone by. This is a familiar place for me I guess because I felt the same thing with Anastasia’s first month. So if history repeats itself, the coming months are just going to scream by–until we hit the 6 month mark, that is.

You see, it’s that 6th month mark where things begin to slow down. Luckily, I believe it’s because things get easier. You know, they(the babies) become stronger, more routine-driven, and suddenly you feel like maybe you can handle this for a little while longer. But isn’t it weird that it’s the tough times that go by so quick? I would expect the opposite. I would expect the hard times to go slow while the fun times fly on by. Well, whatever the reason is behind it, I’m glad things seem to go this way because, afterall, who wants to savor those days of sleepless nights anyhow?
